I have an iPhone 6 on a 2015. I only use Bluetooth because I use a Mophie case which doesn't have pass through USB for the iPhone. The phone auto synchs when I get in. Subaru shows the Bluetooth connection symbol, the signal strength and notes "Phone Connected". I had the same problem with my 2014 WRX a few months ago. I changed my phone from Samsung S4 to my brothers Nexus. In order for the bluetooth to automatically connect when you start the car, you need access the bluetooth setup via a different route (not using audio dashboard). I have a 2014 Subaru Forester. Previously, I was using an iPhone 4S on iOS 7 and every time I started the car, the phone would automatically connect to Bluetooth. Worked great. I switched to an iPhone 5S on iOS 8 and that stopped working. I tried deleting and re-pairing through the radio about a dozen times. Still didn’t work. I read the Subaru manual, and it doesn't support iPhone 6, though it doesn't make reference to a particular version of iOS. My iPhone 4 worked perfectly, so if the previous Siri or hands-free options don't work, I may just use the old phone for music and podcasts, and the iPhone 6 for phone calls.
Please no flaming of iPhones, but two limitations (at least) seem to exist with the Subaru and the iPhone 6/iOS 8 that don’t with Android/Subaru connections: You can’t upload your contacts/address book from the phone to the car’s system. The only fix seems to be uninstalling the Subaru Starlink app. There's no setting for it in the app that you can turn off. I finally found on one of the Subaru owners forums that Subaru of America have acknowledged this as a known issue that popped up after a recent app update, and that they're working on a fix. Until then, the only solution seems to be uninstalling the app. No problem. I can't see what value the app added anyway. According to my Parrot and the iPhone, the devices are connected. I thought something might be wrong with the Parrot so, I paired it with my iPhone (the problem is with my wife's phone) and it works perfectly. If you ask the Parrot to dial a number, it will do that. There is just no voice connection between the devices.
