We need to configure it to send email alerts when some conditions occur (i.e. lost disk redundancy etc) We use to do that on windows or linux hosts simply executing a mail application (specifing the path of the mail app in Openmanage Alert management -> Set alert action), but in vmware service console we cannot find the "mail" command.

I'm fairly certain that I have the Alert Management setup properly. Test e-mails work fine. Example: I am testing it with Power Management Redundancy.
