Along with Astral Weeks, Veedon Fleece is generally held to be one of the most inaccessible and mystical works in the Morrison canon. There is little on Veedon Fleece that resembles a radio-ready track, with the notable exceptions of the album’s centerpieces “Cul de Sac” and “Bulbs.” Although, the same could be said about Astral Weeks , long thought of as an all-time-great pop record, but one that largely worked in contrast to the more traditional folk and rock of its peers. * Veedon Fleece * Inarticulate Speech of the Heart * Born to Sing: No Plan B One word of caution I would sound is that I am not a big fan of It's Too Late to Stop Now, so my tastes might not accord with yours. Van Morrison's 1974 lp is a tale of 2 sides, of which I am obsessed with one. Also, what is a "Monday record"? Here's my 2 Minute Vinyl Review,. Subscribe to our channel for more. BUY IT ON VINYL ... Veedon Fleece is the equal of any recording made by Morrison in his career, and it is a great shame it is not more widely known. Not a recipe for success.
However, in 1973 he not only dissolved the group but also divorced Planet and moved back to Belfast. The stunning 1974 LP Veedon Fleece chronicled Morrison's emotional turmoil; he then remained silent for three years, reportedly working on a number of aborted projects but releasing nothing until 1977's aptly titled A Period of Transition.
